May I start by saying how much
I love MAC mineral skinsfinish products. They look gorgeous on skin, they
usually last forever, the smell is addictive (for me anyway) and so on. The
only ‘downside’ is that they have no brush included with the product, which
would be ideal to make this product bag friendly. Anyway...
Light Year is a shimmery gold-ish
– peachy shade with an orange hint. It looks peachy and quite powdery in the
packaging but when on skin it’s more intense and it looks radiant. The packaging
is typical for both MAC skinfinish products: black and sturdy.

Light Year is very easy to apply;
it goes on beautifully and without any trouble. The texture is soft and smooth
(that’s what I love about all mineralized products), it’s easily buildable and
it is not too over the top, just a perfect, slightly shimmery beautiful shade
of peach ideal for highlighting your cheeks or other areas of your face. You
need a small amount of product to fully cover your both cheeks. That's what I
love about mineralize skinfinish products as well, you only need a little and
that's why they last you for ages. I like the fact that it is not that intense
and bold like some of their blushers and it is more suitable for a day/ office wear.
The finish is slightly frosty /
more shimmery (but not too over the top) and it looks lovely on the cheeks. The
lasting power without a foundation underneath is: after about 4 hours it faded
slightly and after 6 hours it was still noticeable but a re-apply was a must. Overall,
it is not the best performer in this category when it comes to lasting power
(without a foundation) but you have to remember I have oily skin so nothing
lasts on my skin without a base or a foundation. When wearing Light Year with a
foundation the results were significantly better: about 6 hours with a slight
fading and 8 hours where re-application is recommended.

Similar shades: again, there is not anything quite similar to Light
Year that I own, the only product that is similar is Collection 2000 Blush in
03 Breathless, which is less intense, not that long lasting and has more
powdery finish. But I think it’s quite a nice dupe, especially when considering
the price as well.
Because I am in love with mineralize skinfinish products I would definitely
recommend it to those of you who have never tried them. Those of you, who have,
probably do not need any encouragement. A.
